Hello! This project was largely a trial to see if a certain garment shape (cut out shoulder tank top) worked on me. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t, but I still ended up with a top I like and will wear over summer.

This was really one of those “what am I doing with my arms am I a robot” kinds of photoshoots.

Sew Over It Sylvia Robes

I’m still catching up on blogging everything I sewed and knitted over the past few months. Today I’m sharing a couple of Sew Over It Sylvia Robes,* sewn in print rayon I bought on sale at Spotlight. These jackets have been one of the most frequently worn additions to my closet I think I’ve ever made.

Named Inari Woven Tee

I’m back with my first pattern review of the year! It almost seems redundant seeing how many times this pattern has already been reviewed: the Named Inari. I’d already made the dress version and loved it, so when I had some leftover rayon from another project, I decided to sew the tee variation.

Refashioned jumpsuit

A few weeks back I bought this delish viscose jumpsuit at the op shop. I don’t know what I was thinking, really – I’m too tall for anything one-piece to fit me, and this was no exception. The jumpsuit gave me a mega-wedgie, front and back (you’re welcome for the visual), so I threw it in the donation pile.

Staple the Label Qualia Playsuit. It definitely didn’t look like this on me!

The Adeline Top and Sewing Machine Drama

This is another in a series of summer tops I’ve been sewing. The fabric is a gorgeous rayon from the Spotlight $2/m clearance table. I usually don’t wear much black, but the gem-like colours in the pattern were too entrancing to resist.

Worn with some hand-me-down (or up, considering how much shorter my auntie is than me) Gordon Smith pants and Mel moon bow loafers.

Mysterious phone calls, Stalinist conspiracies, and Burda 7390

If you follow my Instagram, you may already know my penchant for writing letters to the editor. A topic of particular interest to me is climate change. Apparently it is of interest to others, as whenever I have a letter printed regarding climate change, I receive a phone call from a concerned stranger who is determined to correct my beliefs regarding the Great Global Warming Conspiracy.

I know this is super bright but it’s all we have right now. Also: THOSE PEACHES

Tessuti Our Fave Top

Lately, I’ve been all about the tees. Sewing with knits is fun and easy – there’s nothing like an instant gratification project! Most of the projects I’ve been sharing with you are a result of a huge knit fabric order from The Remnant Warehouse, whose fabrics I adore. There are more projects to come and I haven’t even used up all the fabric yet!

It must be love

You guys – I’ve finally found my perfect match. Every sewist knows the struggle with patterns that aren’t quite drafted for their body type – the restrictive arms, the too-wide neckline, and the dress that looks cute on the envelope, but looks more like a muu-muu on your body. Enter European sewing magazines: well-drafted, stylish, and the perfect fit for my body.

And they have a dirndl issue every year. What’s not to love?
