Tessuti Patterns Ruby Top

Hello! This project was largely a trial to see if a certain garment shape (cut out shoulder tank top) worked on me. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t, but I still ended up with a top I like and will wear over summer.

Siobhan stands in front of a garden fence. She wears a tank top with narrowed shoulders and slight scoop neck, in a beige printed rayon with slim-fit black pants. She wears large tortoiseshell sunglasses and is smiling.
This was really one of those “what am I doing with my arms am I a robot” kinds of photoshoots.

Two Winter Tops – Frankie and Hemlock

Would you believe I’ve finally been blogging long enough to start posting repeat garments? These are a couple of winter tops I whipped up to sew through a bit of stash fabric.

Tessuti Berlin Jacket

Is anyone else in the Antipodes SUPER excited to see the end of this angry summer? It’s been so hot and humid even in the first month of Autumn, that I leapt at the chance to photograph my Tessuti Berlin Jacket as soon as it cooled down to a bearable temperature.*

A woman stands against a garden fence. She wears a spotted button up shirt, maroon skinny jeans, brown boots and an oversized brown wool open coat.
Shirt is a Trenery score from the op shop. Burgundy Threadz skinny jeans from a local shop end of season sale. Diana Ferrari boots from Savers. I am SO excited to be able to walk in jeans again, so long as they are very stretchy.

Cats wearing bowties! Now that I’ve got your attention…

When I slowly began to get back into sewing garments after my last relapse, loose-fitting tees were at the top of my list. Luckily, I’d had the Frankie Top and Dress pattern stashed away with fabric to match. The skirt is one I made a while back but only just got around to wearing because I resisted hand-sewing in a hook and eye for months!

A woman stands in a veranda. She wears a white tee with black cat print, and a straight black denim skirt, with gold necklace and shoes.
Because the light is so damn harsh you get glamour shots of our filthy front veranda. There’s that plant, which I guess is kinda classy? Necklace and Diana Ferrari gold flats from the op shop.

Tessuti Mandy Boat Tee

OK, so I’m clearly a bit behind on posting my creations – these photos were taken when I still had hair! After the success of my Tessuti Fave Top, I promptly cut out a Mandy Boat Tee. The fabric was one I bought to create a contrast neck binding on my Aeolian Tee, but I liked the colour so much I figured I may as well buy a couple of metres and make a top too.

Pants are a Country Road $3 op shop score. Shoes from country op shop, necklace from local environmental boutique.

Tessuti Our Fave Top

Lately, I’ve been all about the tees. Sewing with knits is fun and easy – there’s nothing like an instant gratification project! Most of the projects I’ve been sharing with you are a result of a huge knit fabric order from The Remnant Warehouse, whose fabrics I adore. There are more projects to come and I haven’t even used up all the fabric yet!

Worn with purple Style Arc Elle pants, $2 op shop leather flats, and a panama hat from KMart.
